The photographer Othmar Seehauser defines himself as an observant witness of his times. For him photography involves recording, though also interpreting and laying bare. His photo archive is one of the most comprehensive in South Tyrol, a complete testimony of the last 25 years: over a million slides, and, since 2003, also digital pictures. Seehauser’s lens has captured subjects ranging from current events to social themes, traditions and folklore, culture as well as landscapes, nature and, time and again, people. Part of his vast archive can be accessed at www.suedtirolfoto.com. Seehauser’s choice of subject matter extends far beyond the limits of South Tyrol. He has become an attentive rambler moving from continent to continent, a time traveller with a feeling and an eye for the unusual. Tens of thousands of slides taken all over the world on the most diverse themes all have one thing in common: relevance. Finally Seehauser is also a professional photographer, one who can photograph to order, capturing precisely what the customer asks him for: events, advertising and promotional motifs, portraits, even weddings and other social occasions, always in the style of a photo journalist. |
