Othmar Seehauser began his career as a press photographer, though numerous books and other publications also bear his unmistakable signature. His most recent major work in book form, “Südtirol im Gegenlicht – Fotoreportagen seit 1980” (South Tyrol against the light – photo essays since 1980), reveals once again the sensitivity and versatility inherent in his work. Traditions, landscape, social commitment – as a witness of his times Seehauser presents his homeland’s many-faceted character, undisguised, warts and all, though also in equal measure its official face, laying bare its true development. Othmar Seehauser’s photos for advertisements can be found in numerous books and magazines, while official South Tyrol also uses Seehauser’s pictures, shot by the photographer who, more than any other, is adept at capturing and presenting his homeland through the lens.
